Old-Fashioned Roast Beef

ingredients
4 pounds beef bottom round roast
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon onion powder
1 teaspoon paprika
directions
Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F.
Place the roast fat side up on a roasting rack that has been coated with nonstick cooking spray. Place the rack in a large roasting pan.
In a small bowl, combine the remaining ingredients; mix well. Rub the spice mixture over the entire roast, covering completely. Roast for 30 minutes.
Reduce the oven to 300 degrees F. and continue roasting the beef until a meat thermometer registers 150 degrees F. for medium-rare, or until desired doneness beyond that.
