Upside Down Blackberry Cobbler

ingredients
3/4 cup butter, at room temperature
2 cups buttermilk biscuit mix (such as Bisquick)
1 1/4 cup granulated sugar (divided)
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1 cup milk
6 cups blackberries, washed and picked over (see note)
1 cup boiling water
directions
Preheat oven to 400 degrees F.
Melt 1/4 cup of the butter. Place in a medium bowl and stir in the biscuit mix, 1/4 cup sugar and the nutmeg. Pour in the milk and stir just until dough is formed. Spread the mixture evenly in an ungreased 11-by7-inch or 9-inch square pan.
Spread the berries over batter and sprinkle with the remaining 1 cup sugar. Dot with remaining 1/2 cup butter. Carefully pour boiling water over the surface.
Bake cobbler for 25 minutes, or until the dough rises and is nicely browned.
NOTE: Substitute any bite-sized ripened fruit or combinations of fruit that you desire.
