Pumpkins aren't just for pies or Halloween decorations. These large, orange gourds - while naturally sweet - also work well in savory dishes. They pair well with poultry and pork (and especially bacon) and their creamy-when-cooked texture blends easily into soups.

A can of cream of mushroom soup can be a real dinner saver. It works great in casseroles and can turn into a sauce or gravy in a pinch.
Ah, the unassuming envelope of onion soup mix. It's more than just for onion soup (or dip). It adds tremendous flavor (and convenience) in all these recipes.

omg this was delicious! The bananas I used were rather ripe so I would recommend using ones that were fresher because they didn't really hold their shape and kinda melted. They tasted good but I think firmer bananas would work better. I'll try this again when I pick up some more bananas.

Kind of soupy. The crunch stuff on top is not crunchy, it's soggy. Not what I expected this recipe. "Banana crunch" recipes, I see, usually use 1/3rd the orange juice. Thanks, previous reviewer, for the other tips, e.g. how much flour etc.

This was not good at all! There was too much salt and nutmeg. I couldn't finish eating a single portion. I had to throw away the rest, as I would have been embarrassed to serve it. I suggest using 1/8 teaspoon salt, 1/8 teaspoon nutmeg and adding 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon. Nutmeg has a very strong flavor that might not be agreeable to everyone, especially in larger amounts. Cinnamon, on the other hand, has a more subtle and comforting flavor.

Even though the recipe didn't say how much flour to use,I used equal amounts of oatmeal and flour. Easy, doesn't take much time, and absolutely delicious with some whipped cream on top!! This recipe is a real keeper !!!
How much flour?

Better yet, saute the banana slices first in butter, brown sugar and a little rum. Let it simmer for a while while the sauce thickens. Continue recipe as called for... heavenly!

This is a great recipe as an alternate to banana bread for the use of ripening bananas! The buttery, citrusy, yummy sauce surrounding the fruit is heaven, with or without ice cream. I did not slice my bananas length-wise, but rather just chopped them up. Tastes the same, ay?
