The name, vodka, comes from the Russian phrase zhiznennaia voda, or "water of life". It can be made from everything from potatoes to beets. It's considered to be fairly flavorless which makes it a great liquor for mixed drinks.
Oven Baked Beef Stew

ingredients
3 pounds beef cubes
1 teaspoon basil
6 carrots, quartered
6 small potatoes
4 stalks celery, sliced in half
3 onions, chopped
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
salt, to taste
1/4 teaspoon oregano
5 tomatoes, crushed
1/4 cup oil
directions
Combine first 10 ingredients in large baking pan. Sprinkle with oil; toss lightly.
Bake, covered, at 350 degrees F for 1 hour, basting frequently. Bake, uncovered, for 1 1/4 hours or until beef is tender.

I made this yesterday the taste was wonderful. I will definately make this dish again but will add more beef broth as it thickened a little too much but it was great. Thanks for the recipe.
