ingredients
1 medium onion, finely chopped
2 cloves garlic, finely chopped
1 teaspoon sweet basil
1 tablespoon olive oil
salt and pepper, to taste
1 1/4 pound ground beef
28 ounces tomato puree
15 ounces tomato sauce
6 ounces tomato paste
water
1 teaspoon sugar
2 bay leaves
directions
Brown onion, garlic and sweet basil in olive oil. Add salt and pepper. After onion is yellowish, add ground beef. Brown.
Add tomato puree, tomato sauce and tomato paste. Fill each can with water. Pour water into sauce. Add sugar and bay leaves. Stir well.
Cover. Simmer for 1 hour. Remove cover. Simmer 1 more hour. Serve.
