under 30 minutes
ingredients
1/4 pound butter
1/3 cup oil
1 cup sugar
6 eggs, beaten
1 teaspoon lemon or anise extract
5 cups flour
4 tablespoons baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
Frosting
1/4 cup water
1/2 pound confectioners' sugar
1/2 teaspoon extract of your choice
3 drops food coloring
directions
Blend butter and oil together, add sugar and then cream well. Add eggs and extract.
Sift together flour, baking powder and salt and then mix into batter.
Pinch off small pieces (about 1 Tbsp for each cookie). Roll on floured board to the thickness of a pencil, then form into small knots.
Place on ungreased baking sheet. Bake at 350 degrees F for 15 minutes.
After cooling, I usually make a simple flavored frosting with confectioner's sugar and some extract. (Usually you match a teaspoon of extract to a box of confectioner's sugar). Just slowly add water to the sugar until you get a good mixture and add a few drops of food coloring.
Just dip the cookies in and let sit on a cooling rack until they dry.

The name, vodka, comes from the Russian phrase zhiznennaia voda, or "water of life". It can be made from everything from potatoes to beets. It's considered to be fairly flavorless which makes it a great liquor for mixed drinks.
