These are some truly upstanding chocolate chip cookies. Oh, wait, not moral fiber? Rather bran cereal adds a good dose of dietary fiber to these cookies.

2 1/4 cups flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup margarine
1/2 cup shortening
3/4 cup white sugar
3/4 cup brown sugar
2 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup Kellogg's Bran Buds
1 cup semisweet chocolate chips (or carob chips)
Stir together flour, soda and salt.
Beat margarine, shortening, white sugar, and brown sugar until well blended. Beat in eggs and vanilla.
Mix in dry ingredients. Stir in cereal and chocolate chips.
Drop by tablespoon onto greased baking sheet. Bake at 350 degrees F about 12 minutes or until lightly browned.
