ingredients
1 cup butter
1 cup vegetable oil
1 cup sugar
1 cup powdered sugar
2 eggs
4 cups flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon cream of tartar
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
directions
Cream together the first 4 ingredients, then add remaining ingredients, mixing well. Refrigerate for 2 hours.
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Butter 2 cookie sheets.
Form dough into small balls on prepared pans. Flatten with the greased bottom of a glass with a pattern in the base (or a cookie stamp) dipped in sugar. Bake for 10 to 12 minutes.
