ingredients

2 cans field peas
1 1/2 cup raw rice
2 slices salted meat
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1 1/2 cup water
1 can mushroom steak sauce
1/8 pound margarine
1/2 bell pepper
1/2 onion
1 stalk celery

directions

Cut salted meat in chunks and boil until tender.

Saute onion, bell pepper and celery in margarine. Add field peas and drained, salted meat and cook for 10 minutes.

Add steak sauce, rice and water. Reduce fire to low, cover and cook for 15 or 20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until rice is cooked.
