Cranberry Sauce with Amaretto

ingredients
2/3 cup sugar
2/3 cup water
1/3 cup amaretto liqueur
1 package (12 ounce size) fresh or frozen cranberries
1 orange, juiced
1 tablespoon orange zest, cut julienne
3 tablespoons toasted sliced almonds
directions
Bring sugar, water, and Amaretto to a boil in a heavy-bottomed saucepan. Add cranberries, stir, and return to a boil. Reduce heat and boil gently, stirring occasionally, for about 8 to 10 minutes or until cranberries pop. Remove from heat, add orange juice and zest, and cool. Just before serving, fold in almonds.
