ingredients
1 cup butter
1 cup sugar
1 cup powdered sugar
4 egg yolks
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 teaspoon almond extract
3 cups cake flour, sift 3 times
2 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
1 cup milk
4 egg whites, stiffly beaten
directions
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Butter a bundt pan.
Place the butter in a mixer bowl and cream well on medium speed with a mixer.
Sift together the sugar and powdered sugar and then add to the butter. Mix on medium speed for 2 minutes or until well mixed.
Add the egg yolks, one at a time, while the mixer is running until they are well blended into the mixture.
Add both extracts and mix for one minute.
Combine the sifted flour, baking powder, and salt. Sift together three times.
With the mixer running, alternately add the flour and milk in small batches to the batter.
Fold the beaten egg whites by hand until incorporated.
Pour the batter into the prepared bundt pan. Bake at 350 degrees F for 1 1/4 hours or until the cake tests done. Let the cake cool in the pan for 15 minutes then remove from the pan and let cool completely on a wire rack.
You can frost the cake if desired, drizzle with icing, or simply sprinkle with powdered sugar.

My mother was born and raised in Grmany and I have been making this recipe my whole life and it is always a hit whenever I make it. At Christmas time I have to make at least 2 of them so that everyone get some! It doesn't mention how much salt but it is 1 tsp!
