1 cup butter, softened
2 cups sugar
3 cups all-purpose flour
4 eggs
5 teaspoons baking powder
1 cup milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Grease and flour a round cake pan.
In a bowl, combine the butter, sugar, and eggs. Beat on medium speed with an electric mixer until light and fluffy.
Add the vanilla, milk, and baking powder and mix.
Fold in the flour and only mix until combined.
Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan. Place in the oven and bake at 350 degrees F for 30 minutes or until the cake tests done.
Remove the 1-2-3-4-5 cake from the oven and let cool for 15 minutes in the pan then remove the cake to a wire rack to cool completely before frosting or storing.
Store the cake in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 4 days or freeze for up to 2 months.

The name, vodka, comes from the Russian phrase zhiznennaia voda, or "water of life". It can be made from everything from potatoes to beets. It's considered to be fairly flavorless which makes it a great liquor for mixed drinks.
