The name, vodka, comes from the Russian phrase zhiznennaia voda, or "water of life". It can be made from everything from potatoes to beets. It's considered to be fairly flavorless which makes it a great liquor for mixed drinks.

I just made this soup. It is great. I added some fresh ground black pepper. Great recipe. Yummy.
My husband does not like broccoli but loved this soup. So I will make it often. It is quick and delicious.

The recipe was incredibly easy, and with few ingredients (ones you usually have at home or you can even use left overs) and it was delicious! Definitely recommend it and I will surely make it again.

Delicious! also easy, I added crushed black peppercorn, cheddar, and potatoes too. the potatoes make it somewhat more hearty and add texture. Overall very good recipe i would reccomend this to any one who wants a great broccoli soup

Definitely a five. Pretty easy, very yummy. I even used skim milk. I think you could use fresh garlic when cooking the onions. A winner I'll use again and again.

This soup was extremely easy to make. I didn't have any celery but went ahead and made it anyway without that ingredient. It was delicious. I'd definitely make it again to serve to friends.

Great recipe! Tried it and my husband finished the whole pot! Even my kids (3 and 5) enjoyed it! Very smooth, comforting and delicious.
Using ideas from your basic recipe, I microwaved my left-over brocc & cauli florets, from a yesterday's vegie plate. Dissolved 4 ch cubes to quart H20; Liquified it all in the blender with the sauted 1/2 onion; adding day old stir-fried brocc/garlic, cooked asparagus, carrot. Heated on low in Dutch oven, adding 1 c skim milk before serving. Yum, Yum.

Unbelievably rich, smooth, and I've got two words to describe it... "Comfort Food"! I think i cooked the veggies a bit longer to reduce the overall time and it took me about 40 min. - and that was including making the chix broth from bullion cubes bcz I didn't have any around. (just fyi - if you're using cubes, i used 2 small 1 centimeter cubes per cup of water... 6 in all for this recipe). I added 1.5 cups of baby portabella 'shrooms as well - tasty! Thanks so much for a recipe that DID NOT include cheddar - family allergies, 'tis the whole reason I used this recipe. :) Again, Yum!

This is an amazing recipe! I just made this soup and took a taste, WOW! It's very easy to cook and tastes great, what could be better?! Try adding a little bit of black pepper and I think I'm going to add a little bit of cheddar cheese and sour cream before serving. This will be a new soup staple in my home!
