Pumpkins aren't just for pies or Halloween decorations. These large, orange gourds - while naturally sweet - also work well in savory dishes. They pair well with poultry and pork (and especially bacon) and their creamy-when-cooked texture blends easily into soups.

1/2 pound ground beef
1/3 cup shredded cheese
10 refrigerator biscuits
Optional Seasonings
cayenne pepper
oregano
lemon pepper
directions
Brown ground beef in a small skillet. Drain off excess fat. Add seasonings and simmer for 5 minutes. Add cheese and set aside.
Press each biscuit to form a 4-inch square. Spread 1 tablespoon of beef mixture down middle of each square. Bring 1 side of biscuit over filling and fold other edge on top.
Carefully lift onto ungreased cookie sheet, making sure to put the seam-side down. You may want to cover cookie sheet with aluminum foil.
Shape biscuit to form a bear claw (crescent shape). With scissors, make 3 cuts halfway through dough along outer curve. Bake at 350 degrees F for 10 minutes.
