ingredients
1 jar (32 ounce size) chunky vodka marinara sauce
1 cup sun-dried tomatoes in olive oil, drained and julienne chopped
2 cups whipping cream or half-and-half
1 cup chopped fresh arugula, optional (can substitute chopped fresh spinach)
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon ground anise seed
pepper, to taste
2 tablespoons mixed fresh herbs (e.g., tarragon, basil, thyme, chives, rosemary, oregano, etc.)

In a large saucepan, mix all of the ingredients and simmer. If you use half-and-half, do not boil, it will curdle the milk portion of the half-and-half.

Pumpkins aren't just for pies or Halloween decorations. These large, orange gourds - while naturally sweet - also work well in savory dishes. They pair well with poultry and pork (and especially bacon) and their creamy-when-cooked texture blends easily into soups.
