ingredients
2 pounds cooking apples (Winesap, McIntosh, Jonathan, Rome Beauty)
3 tablespoons bacon drippings
2 tablespoons packed brown sugar
directions
Wash apples and core but do not peel. Cut into slices about 1/4 inch thick.
Heat bacon drippings in a heavy large skillet. Sprinkle with the sugar. Cook apples for about 20 minutes or until brown on both sides, adding more bacon drippings if needed to prevent sticking.
Serve hot for breakfast or supper with eggs and bacon, ham or sausage.
