This ultra-simple homemade clam base only has three ingredients and comes together in a matter of minutes. You can make a big batch and freeze some for future chowders, too.

ingredients

1 can (6.5 ounce size) clams, drained
1 tablespoon salt
2 tablespoons lemon juice

directions

To make homemade clam base, simply puree the drained clams with salt and lemon juice.

Use 2 tablespoons of this base for the recipe you're using. Works great in clam chowder and other seafood soup recipes.
