As delicious as it is easy, this sweet potato pie is a real taste of the South. Pretty much mix everything together and bake it in a pie shell. The spicing is simple so the sweet potato flavor really comes through.
3 tablespoons flour
1 2/3 cup sugar
1 cup mashed, cooked sweet potatoes
3/4 cup evaporated milk
1/2 cup butter, at room temperature
1/4 cup light corn syrup
2 eggs, at room temperature
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1 pinch salt
1 (9-inch size) pie shell, unbaked
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
In a mixing bowl, stir together the flour and sugar. Add the sweet potatoes, evaporated milk, butter, corn syrup, eggs, nutmeg and salt and mix on medium speed with an electric mixer.
Pour the sweet potato filling into the unbaked pie shell. Place in the oven and bake at 350 degrees F for 55-60 minutes or until the pie is set in the middle.
Remove from the oven and let cool on a wire rack then chill completely.

My mom was from Alabama and made these every year for Thanksgiving and Christmas. This is how she made them. Truly the southern recipe.

Outstanding recipe.. I am from the south and my mom bakes sweet potato pies with her eyes closed. Unfortunately, I couldn't contact her so I used this recipe. I used it for a pot luck and I had no ideal it would come out so great. Thanks for posting this recipe.

This was my first time making a sweet potato pie, although as a girl with southern roots, Ive had plenty of them in my day. It was amazing! Although I spent most of the prep time doubting I could do it, It was the best sweet potato pie anyone in my family had ever had. They've officially placed "orders" for me to make them for thanksgiving. Great recipe!

Amazing and easy recipe!!! This was the first time I made the sweet potato pie and it turned out just like how one of our southern friend makes it. Now we don't have to wait for her pie every year!!! I just substituted the corn syrup with equal parts honey. Otherwise, perfect. Thank you so much!
