Layered Italian Meatloaf With Pizza Sauce Gravy

ingredients
1 can pizza sauce
2 eggs
1 cup finely crushed saltine crackers
1/2 cup finely chopped onion
1/2 cup finely chopped green bell pepper
1/2 teaspoon garlic salt
1 dash black pepper
1 1/2 pound ground beef
4 ounces canned chopped mushrooms
1 1/2 cup small curd cream-style cottage cheese
1 tablespoon snipped parsley
1/2 teaspoon dried oregano, crushed
directions
In a large bowl, combine one of the eggs and 1/2 cup of the pizza sauce. Stir in half the cracker crumbs, chopped onion, chopped green pepper, garlic salt, and pepper. Add beef; mix well.
Pat 1/3 of meat mixture into bottom of 8x8" baking pan. Drain mushrooms; combine with remaining egg, remaining crumbs, cottage cheese, parsley, and oregano. Spread evenly over meat in pan. Top with remaining meat mixture.
Bake at 350 degrees F for 50 minutes. Let stand 10 minutes before serving.
In small saucepan, heat remaining pizza sauce. Pass with meatloaf as gravy.
