I have been baking this cake for about 37 years I got the recipe off of a c&h sugar box and have been making it ever since all of my children love it

I first ran across this recipe in a magazine as part of a C&H Sugar advertisement. Like you, it has been a favorite of my family for years and years. My daughter makes it now, too, whenever she needs a great desert that is easy to put together. I usually offer some whipped cream and/or rich vanilla ice cream with it.

  3. onsjones REVIEW:

I was shocked to find this recipe online and would be thrilled to know where Bill, the gentleman who submitted it, came upon it. My mother made this cake for all of her 7 children for their respective birthdays at THEIR REQUEST. My mother passed away a few months ago. I decided to have her handwritten, batter- spattered copy of this recipe framed and give it to my sister as a 50th birthday gift. I wanted to make the cake for her as well - my mom had been to ill to bake for some years. But one ingredient was not written down correctly so my plans were ruined. My brother suggested I try the internet, just in case. Imagine my shock when our old family recipe was found online, word for word! I can't tell you how excited I am, and just in time - tomorrow is my sister's birthday so the the day is saved! I am curious now, thought to trace the origin of the recipe and hope that Bill will share. -Sarah Thank you!

    • I think this may have originated from an old package of C&H Sugar.
