cook's notes
If you don't like coconut, use green sugar sprinkles. You don't get the same "grass" effect as the coconut, but you might like the taste better. Another option is to pipe a "nest" of green icing to encircle the top and place a Peep in the center. Sprinkle with colored sprinkles for a finishing touch.
I experimented with the Marshmallow Peep Cupcakes recipe. I made a few changes. First, I used a larger size cupcake pan. Second, I used marshmallow egg swirlers for the egg shells. I just cut around the inside of the egg swirlers so the peeps would fit. This was easy and looks great. My grandkids just love this eggstra-special treat for Easter.

Pumpkins aren't just for pies or Halloween decorations. These large, orange gourds - while naturally sweet - also work well in savory dishes. They pair well with poultry and pork (and especially bacon) and their creamy-when-cooked texture blends easily into soups.
Ah, the unassuming envelope of onion soup mix. It's more than just for onion soup (or dip). It adds tremendous flavor (and convenience) in all these recipes.
