Not to be confused with evaporated milk, sweetened condensed milk is very sweet (and very sticky) and used primarily in desserts.

Stop, drop and frost. There's nothing a cupcake can't fix. Especially, this fluffy batter made with brown sugar, vanilla and almond extract. Top with the homemade, blissful buttercream icing and enjoy your piece of heaven.
1 cup butter, softened
2 cups brown sugar, packed
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1 teaspoon almond extract
6 egg whites
3 cups flour
1 tablespoon baking powder
1 cup milk
DELICATE ICING
1/2 cup margarine, softened
1/2 cup butter, softened
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
4 cups powdered sugar
2 tablespoons milk
Cream butter and sugar, adding sugar gradually, until light and fluffy. Add vanilla and almond flavoring. Then mix flour, milk and baking powder into batter in three stages. Beat until smooth.
Whip egg whites in a separate bowl until soft peaks form. Gently fold egg whites into batter. Spoon into paper-lined cupcake pans and bake at 350 degrees F for 15-18 minutes. Let cool before icing.
For icing, cream butter and margarine, then add vanilla. Gradually add the sugar. Mixture will appear rather dry. Finally, add milk. Beat on high speed until the icing is light and fluffy. Keep extra icing in a closed container in the refrigerator.

Ah, the unassuming envelope of onion soup mix. It's more than just for onion soup (or dip). It adds tremendous flavor (and convenience) in all these recipes.
Beer makes batters better, meat more tender, and sauces more flavorful.

This is definitely one of the more exquisite cupcake recipes I've made, and I do a lot of baking. They are great for special occasions because they so clearly aren't made from a mix. Very impressive recipe.
