30-60 minutes
ingredients
1/3 cup butter
1/2 cup light corn syrup
3/4 cup creamy peanut butter
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 pound powdered sugar, sifted
3/4 cup chopped nuts
directions
Soften butter by pressing against the sides of the bowl with a wooden spoon. Blend in corn syrup, peanut butter, salt and vanilla. Mix until creamy. Stir in powdered sugar.
Put the mixture into gallon-size self-sealing plastic bags, one for each child. Add nuts to the bags and give the bags to the children. Show the children how to mix and mash the ingredients through the bag until they are well mixed.
Press each bag into a flat shape and chill in the refrigerator. Cut into squares.

They pair well with poultry and pork (and especially bacon) and their creamy-when-cooked texture blends easily into soups.
Not to be confused with evaporated milk, sweetened condensed milk is very sweet (and very sticky) and used primarily in desserts.
