Pumpkins aren't just for pies or Halloween decorations. These large, orange gourds - while naturally sweet - also work well in savory dishes. They pair well with poultry and pork (and especially bacon) and their creamy-when-cooked texture blends easily into soups.

I actually made this with coffee powder, vanilla extract and ground cinnamon instead, because I found myself in the kitchen looking at an empty box of coffee and no vanilla beans or cinnamon sticks. I also added just a little bit of coffee creamer and it was really wonderful. For 725 ml I used: 3 tsp coffee, 1 tsp vanilla and 1/2 tsp cinnamon.
