Ah, the unassuming envelope of onion soup mix. It's more than just for onion soup (or dip). It adds tremendous flavor (and convenience) in all these recipes.

Pork steaks are coated in herbs, pan-fried, then simmered in the oven until tender.

1 tablespoon vegetable oil
1/4 cup flour
1/2 teaspoon finely chopped fresh parsley
1/2 teaspoon chopped fresh oregano
1/4 teaspoon chopped fresh thyme
1/8 teaspoon chopped fresh sage
1/2 teaspoon salt, optional
1/4 teaspoon black pepper, optional
4 pork steaks (4 ounce size)
2 tablespoons water
Preheat oven to 325 degrees F.
Heat the oil in a large, ovenproof skillet over medium-high heat.
Combine the flour, herbs, and seasonings in a shallow bowl. Dredge the pork steaks in the seasoned flour. Tap off any excess.
Place the pork in the hot pan and cook over medium-high, turning once, until brown on both sides (about 4 minutes).
Add the water to the pan, cover, and place in the oven. Bake at 325 degrees F for 20-30 minutes or until pork is cooked through.
Serve hot.

Not to be confused with evaporated milk, sweetened condensed milk is very sweet (and very sticky) and used primarily in desserts.

I really love pork steaks prepared this way. They are so tender! And this is so easy. I've used dried herbs too and it is almost as good (so if you don't have fresh herbs on hand know you can sub dried in a pinch). Thank you for this family favorite!!! xoxo Sammi
