2 tablespoons oil or melted shortening
3 pounds pork shoulder steak
salt and pepper
1 can (8 ounce size) tomato sauce
2 tablespoons white vinegar
2 tablespoons chopped onion
1 tablespoon chili powder (or to taste)
1/2 teaspoon garlic salt
Heat the oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
Season the pork with salt and pepper. Brown in the hot oil on both sides.
Add the tomato sauce, vinegar, onion, chili powder, and garlic salt to the skillet. Cover skillet and reduce heat to medium-low. Simmer for 40-50 minutes or until the pork is tender.

Tried this. We thought it was over-rated. I would not make it again. I will say that I guess it was the vinegar that made the meat so tender. We felt it needed salt. I did not use garlic salt, perhaps that was why. I used minced garlic and did not add salt beyond the original asked for in browning the meat. I am restricted on salt. I felt it was fine for a change, but not worth the effort.
Yes, following the recipe would have definitely yielded better results

Hoozah !! About 20 minutes to go and the sauce rocks. Funny how a relatively simple recipe can taste so good. I used a cut-up giant 'country' style pork steak (2 pounds). Everything else is as stated but I did use a New Mexico style chili powder. Soon... very soon....
