February 22nd, 2025 is National Margarita Day

Okay, no one's sure who Margarita was, or where the cocktail named in her honor was invented. Various Mexican cities claim to be the birthplace of the drink (if not the woman). But this crowd-pleasing classic of tequila, triple sec, and lime juice is refreshing and festive at any time of year, not just National Margarita Day!
Margarita-making Tips:
- Use fresh lime juice. Packaged sour mixes are convenient mixers but when you only have a few ingredients in a cocktail, you want to use the best.
- Don't cheap out on the tequila. Just as with the lime juice, the flavor of the tequila is going to shine through in most margarita recipes so you don't want to ruin it with bottom shelf tequila.
- Know your orange liqueur. Triple Sec is a generic term for Cointreau. Make sure you're getting the real stuff as there are a lot of cheap orange liqueurs that use that name.
- Watch how you salt the rim. The lazy way to salt a rim is to simply dip the inverted glass in the salt. This, however, will get salt inside the glass and outside. You really only want the salt on the outside of the glass. To do this, gently roll the rim of the glass in the salt instead of dipping it.
