Oddly these were my favorite (I'm not a fan of nuts typically). They had a kick of heat to them. Really good.

Really nice balance of flavors. Not too hot, not too mild. And as one guest said, just the right amount of onion.

Getting Caught Up
by Guest Writer, Valerie Whitmore
Normally you'd probably be expecting to see another edition of Foodie Friday in this post. Well, I've decided it doesn't need to be every Friday. I mean, let's face it, trying recipes from my own website is time consuming enough. And as much as I enjoy the food blogs I visit, I have to put my regular work first. There will definitely be more Foodie Friday blogs featured - just not each week.
One of the things that I have fallen behind on in the past couple of weeks is photo editing. Easter weekend we had a birthday bash for Brent. Of course, it was really a CDKitchen tasting event, but we had balloons and honored the birthday boy.
The event was a two-day whirlwind of fun. We had guests come over on Saturday evening to sample one set of recipes, and then some returned the next morning for a brunch tasting. There were 70 recipes total selected to make. 68 actually were made. Yep, 68 recipes tested in the course of a weekend.
Best of all, I don't think there was a flop in the entire batch. Normally we get a few that just don't turn out for some reason or another (usually from the crunch to get everything done in the timeframe). There was one recipe (which you'll see in a future post) that looked odd but tasted great but otherwise everything was deemed a success. The recipes varied from munchies to hot foods to cocktails.
Today I'll share with you the snack-y types foods we tested at the event (because trying to cram all 68 recipes into one post would be insane!).
You'll notice that the photo for the last recipe listed is missing. I had a little mishap with the camera. During the party the SD card (memory card) in the camera filled up. In my haste to move the photos off the camera onto a computer I actually ended up deleting them and formatting the memory card. I didn't realize this until around 4am when I woke with a start and thought "wait - where did those pictures end up?"
The good news is that I found some software that restored most of the photos. Only a couple were lost, and it looks like the "White Trash Dip" was one of them. I didn't notice it until a few days ago or I would have retaken it the next day (from what little leftovers of it that there was - because it was SO good!).
Stay tuned for more recipes from the feast!
