Ah, the unassuming envelope of onion soup mix. It's more than just for onion soup (or dip). It adds tremendous flavor (and convenience) in all these recipes.

Also known as Lutheran sushi, this savory pickle, cream cheese, and ham roll-up is great for snacking and entertaining, while being easy to prepare too.
sliced deli ham
cream cheese, softened
dill pickles, cut in strips
Spread a layer of cream cheese on a slice of deli ham. Place strips of dill pickle on one edge. Roll the ham around the pickle, sealing the edges. Wrap in plastic wrap and refrigerate until well chilled.
When ready to serve, slice the ham and pickle roll-ups into bite-sized pieces.
Choose a good quality deli ham for the best flavor and texture.
If the ham is sliced too thin you may need to use two slices per roll-up.
Make sure the cream cheese is softened to room temperature for easy spreading.
If the pickles are too wet, pat them dry with a paper towel before rolling them in the ham.
For added veggies, you can add a layer of lettuce or spinach before rolling the ham and pickles.
Experiment with different seasonings or spreads to vary the flavor of the roll-ups.
For a different flavor, you can mix herbs or spices into the cream cheese before spreading it on the ham.
You can use any type of thin sliced ham you prefer, such as smoked ham or honey ham or even turkey ham. You can also use other meats such as deli chicken, turkey, roast beef, or even salami.
You can use any type of pickle you like, such as bread and butter pickles, spicy flavored pickles, cornichons, etc. You can also use other pickled or brined foods such as olives, pickled jalapenos, pickled carrots, etc.
You can prepare the ham and pickle roll-ups a day in advance and store them covered in the refrigerator.
You can add ingredients such as shredded cheese, sliced olives, or even herbs or spices. You can also used flavored cream cheese to change things up.
They can be served as appetizers at a party, as a snack, or as part of a lunch spread. They can be served chilled or at room temperature.
It's not recommended to freeze the ham and pickle roll-ups as the texture of the cream cheese may change when frozen and thawed.
The ham and pickle roll-ups can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 days in an airtight container.
Small Spreading Knife or Spatula: For spreading a smooth and even layer of cream cheese on the deli ham slices.
Plastic Wrap: Used to wrap the ham and pickle roll-ups before refrigerating. Helps keep the roll-ups intact while chilling.
Chips and Dip: the salty crunch of the chips will provide a nice texture contrast to the creamy and savory roll-ups.
Salty Nuts Mix: the nuttiness of the nuts will add an extra layer of flavor to the roll-ups.
Crudites Platter: the fresh, crisp vegetables will provide a nice refreshing contrast to balance out the richness of the roll-ups.
Fruit Skewers: the sweetness of the fruit will add a nice contrast to the savory roll-ups.

Its the best with Budding Corn Beef. Then if you roll it up and slice it into 3 section is has a better presentation and serve with tooth picks. You can refrigerate them overnight and serve the next day.
