Czechoslovakian Kolache Prune Pies with Coconut Strollen

ingredients
Dough
1 cup sugar
1/2 cup shortening
1/2 cup butter
2 cups warm milk
2 cakes yeast
1/4 cup warm water
6 cups flour
2 eggs, beaten
1/2 teaspoon salt
Prune Filling
1/2 cup chopped prunes
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup water
1 tablespoon lemon juice
Coconut Strollen
1/2 cup sugar
1/4 cup flour
1 tablespoon butter
1 package dried coconut
directions
Dissolve sugar, shortening and butter in warm milk. Let mixture cool.
Dissolve yeast and an additional 1 tablespoon of sugar in warm water. Add 1 cup flour to shortening mixture to make a soft batter.
Add yeast, eggs, salt and remaining flour, to make dough easy to handle. Knead and let rise. Press down center of balls and spread dough to the sides.
Mix all ingredients for prune filling and cook over medium heat, stirring until mixture is thick. Fill center of balls with a little prune filling.
For Coconut Strollen: Combine sugar, flour and butter. Sprinkle over top of Kolaches. Top with coconut.
Bake at 375 degrees F for 10 minutes or until brown.
