Skip the bottled Bloody Mary mix next time and make your own! This makes a big batch but it can be scaled down easily. It has just the right balance of spices and is delicious enough to drink without the vodka too!
1 can (46 ounce size) tomato juice
4 tablespoons lime juice
3 tablespoons jalapeno juice from canned jalapenos
3 tablespoons vinegar
2 tablespoons sugar
2 teaspoons prepared horseradish
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1/8 teaspoon onion powder
1 dash garlic
Combine all ingredients in a 2-quart pitcher. Store covered in the refrigerator.
Directions for mixing drink: Add 3 parts of the Bloody Mary Mix to 1 part vodka, gin, rum or tequila, over ice. This Bloody Mary mix is also delicious by itself. Simply pour over ice and serve.

I'm sorry but this doesn't even remotely resemble the original. Too sweet for one thing and spices aren't even close.

Excellent, very close to the real thing!
What kind of vinegar? Plain white vinegar? Or some other kind? And I'm assuming it's a dash of garlic powder? It's funny...The Wife and I were talking about mixing a batch of Bloody Mary's the other day. This way looks like a lot more fun as we can mix it to suit our sometimes weird taste in stuff...

Great Bloody Mary mix! Easy enough to make that you can keep it on hand or just mix it up for a party. Loved the flavor - perfect balance of horseradish and lime (two ingredients that are often skewed in other recipes).
