Ingredients:
4 cups white all purpose flour -- 500 gr.
2 tablespoons yeast -- 30 gr.
1 teaspoon salt -- 5 gr.
2 cups milk, luke warm -- 1/2 liter
1/2 cup raisins -- 125 gr.
1/2 cup currants -- 125 gr.
1/3 cup candied lemon peel -- 100 gr.
powdered sugar for garnish
oil for deep frying

Directions:

In a mixer make a dough from the first four ingredients. Let rise in warm place for approx. 1 hour, or doubled in bulk.

Mix raisins and currants and candied citron in with the dough. Let rise again. In the mean time, heat the oil to approx. 400 F. With 2 spoons, dipped in the oil, let dough slide from spoon into hot oil. Balls will turn by itself when oil is at right temperature. When the balls are light brown, lift balls out of oil, with slotted spoon and let drain on paper towels, (cut open one ball, to make sure they are done inside). Dust with powdered sugar.

Note: Optional: Add to the raisin mix, 1 peeled, cored, chopped apple to the dough.
