This iconic whiskey is a "Jack of all trades" when it comes to cooking. Toss it in some pasta, as a savory dipping sauce, and even bake it into something sweet.

2 1/2 cups sugar
1 can (5 ounce size) evaporated milk
6 ounces semisweet chocolate bits
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 tablespoons butter
1 cup chopped walnuts
Mix sugar and evaporated milk together in heavy pan. Mixture will be very thick. Cook on low heat and watch closely until it begins to boil. Let come to full rolling boil. Then boil exactly for 5 minutes.
Remove from heat. Then add chocolate, beating until melted and smooth. Mix in butter and vanilla by hand. Last, mix in chopped nuts.
Pour into buttered glass dish. Firms rapidly.
