What's the secret ingredient in these cakes? Pudding mix. It not only adds flavor but it gives the cake a richer, creamier texture. No one will know your secret ingredient!

Everybody should have a secret sauce recipe that they'd guard with their life, and root beer is the perfect secret ingredient for your secret sauce. Its sweetness and distinctive bite is hard to replicate, and adds incredible flavor to crockpot ribs.
1 1/2 cup root beer (not diet)
1 cup ketchup
1/2 cup orange juice
2 tablespoons molasses
3 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
2 cloves garlic, minced
3 tablespoons grated or minced onion
1/2 teaspoon paprika
1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
3 drops hot sauce
2 tablespoons cornstarch
salt and pepper, to taste
2 racks baby back ribs
Combine the root beer, orange juice, ketchup, molasses, Worcestershire sauce, onion, paprika, ginger, and hot sauce in a saucepan. Whisk in the cornstarch. Bring the sauce to a boil over medium-high heat. Reduce the heat to a simmer and let cook until slightly thickened, about 3-4 minutes.
Remove the membrane from the ribs with a sharp knife. Sprinkle with salt and pepper. Place the ribs in the crock pot, cutting them to fit as needed.
Pour the root beer sauce over the ribs. Turn the ribs to coat them completely in the sauce. Cover the crock pot and cook on low for 4-5 hours or until the ribs are falling off the bone tender.
Serve the ribs hot, drizzled with the root beer sauce, if desired.

Ah, the unassuming envelope of onion soup mix. It's more than just for onion soup (or dip). It adds tremendous flavor (and convenience) in all these recipes.
