ingredients
1/4 cup granulated sugar
2 tablespoons water
1/2 cup fresh lemon juice
1/2 cup fresh lime juice
1/2 cup anejo tequila, PLUS"PLUS" means this ingredient in addition to the one on the next line, often with divided uses
2 tablespoons anejo tequila
1/4 cup Cointreau
margarita salt
directions
To make a simple sugar syrup, stir sugar and water together in a saucepan and heat until sugar is dissolved and liquid is clear. Set aside to cool while you squeeze the lemon and lime juices.
Pour the tequila and Cointreau into a pitcher, then stir in the simple syrup. Add lemon and lime juices and stir. Pour over ice into salted margarita glasses.
NOTE: To salt glasses, touch the rims into a plate of water, then dip into margarita salt. Coarse margarita salt is available in many grocery stores.
