Ah, the unassuming envelope of onion soup mix. It's more than just for onion soup (or dip). It adds tremendous flavor (and convenience) in all these recipes.

A different kind of margarita! It's made with beer, frozen limeade, and tequila.
1 lime, cut into wedges
1/4 cup coarse salt
2 bottles (12 ounce size) lager-style beer, well chilled
1/2 cup thawed frozen limeade concentrate
1/2 cup tequila
crushed ice
Rub the cut edge of a lime around the rims of margarita glasses.
Place the coarse salt in a shallow dish and gently dip the lime-rubbed rims of the glasses into the salt to evenly coat. Set the glasses aside.
Combine the beer, limeade, and tequila in a pitcher.
Fill the margarita glasses with the crushed ice and then pour the margarita mixture over the ice.
Garnish the margaritas with the remaining lime wedges.

The name, vodka, comes from the Russian phrase zhiznennaia voda, or "water of life". It can be made from everything from potatoes to beets. It's considered to be fairly flavorless which makes it a great liquor for mixed drinks.

I usually find margaritas too sweet to really enjoy. The beer in this version really balances it out and makes for a wonderfully refreshing drink.

This is exactly how I have made my margaritas for years. Everyone thinks they are the best even those who say they don't like margaritas.
I've been using a beer recipe for years and I think a good beer helps to "mellow" the 'rita. One thing I do is thaw the limeade (I use the microwave) and then pour it through a fine mesh strainer to remove the lime pulp. I guess it's personal preference, but I don't like the pulp floating in my drink and clinging to the sides of the glass.

For a frozen version. Get a blender. Place a frozen limeade container, a limeade container full of tequila, another full of either lager or pilsner beer, and a final 1/2 of either cointreau or Grand ma and fill with ice, preferably the "ring" shaped cubes. They break up better. run the blender and voila. This recipe got me through college!!

You can also add a can of sprite (no 7-up) and it add another great taste. FYI, we try to use a Mexican beer like Corona...

We've been making this drink for years, and it's always a hit! It always tastes best after a day of playing on the beach or in the sun. Even our "beer hating" friends love it. It's best to make it earlier in the day, for consumption later in the afternoon or evening. Let it sit in the fridge for several hours to give it a chance to chill and to allow the flavors to mellow. Be sure to add ice to the pitcher and shake it well before putting it in the fridge to mellow. For an added kick, make it with one can limeade, one limeade can filled with beer and one can tequila. Yummy!

If you hate beer and hate tequila, you're going to LOVE this recipe. Honest -- there's something about mixing them with the lime juice that makes it unbelievably refreshing and delicious!!!
