Ah, the unassuming envelope of onion soup mix. It's more than just for onion soup (or dip). It adds tremendous flavor (and convenience) in all these recipes.

Cake
1 package (15-16 ounce size) yellow cake mix
1 egg
8 tablespoons butter, melted
Filling
1 package (8 ounce size) cream cheese, softened
1 can (15 ounce size) pumpkin
3 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
8 tablespoons butter, softened
1 box (16 ounce size) powdered sugar
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon ground nutmeg
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Grease a 9x13 baking dish.
In a mixing bowl, combine the cake mix, egg, and melted butter. Beat on medium speed with an electric mixer for 2-3 minutes or until well combined. Transfer the mixture to the prepared baking dish and spread it evenly in the bottom, patting it down gently.
In another mixing bowl with clean beaters, beat the cream cheese and pumpkin on medium speed until smooth. With the mixer running, add the eggs, vanilla, and butter. Mix until uniform in color.
With the mixer still running, add the powdered sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Mix for 2 minutes or until combined.
Spread the cream cheese layer over the cake layer. Place the baking dish in the oven and bake at 350 degrees F for 40-50 minutes or until just set and the center of the cake is still a little gooey.
Serve warm or chilled with whipped cream.
Variations: in place of the pumpkin, try 1 drained 20-ounce can of crushed pineapple, 2 bananas, or 1 cup creamy peanut butter. Try other cake mix flavors as well.

It taste just like a sweet potato bread but even better. So christmas just past and i bake a friend one for her family. she call me the day after christmas and said you have got to give me that recipe, We ate all that cake in one day. She said the crust is what really got to her.So guess what?..Im baking her another one right now....But just to remind ya'll when mixing your cream cheese please make sure your cream is soft and mix very well with a mixture and make sure it is free of lumps from the cream cheese. And dont over bake it. the center should be a little gooey on the inside and only bake for 45 minutes...Good luck!!!!
