Chicken Fried Tofu With Cream Gravy - CDKitchen.com

ingredients

1/4 cup olive oil
3 cloves garlic
1/4 cup tamari
1/2 cup bread crumbs
1 pound tofu (firm or extra-firm)

White Gravy

2 tablespoons flour
2 tablespoons butter or margarine
1 cup hot, scalded milk
salt
Tabasco sauce

directions

Preheat a 400 degrees F oven. Slice tofu in half-inch slices.

Put first three ingredients in blender and run for a bit on high speed. Marinate sliced tofu in mixture for about 15 minutes on a side.

Dredge slices in bread crumbs. Bake on a cookie sheet for 15 minutes per side.

For White Sauce: Make a roux of the flour and butter or margarine. Cook for a couple of minutes.

Add hot, scalded milk. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat, then add salt and several dashes Tabasco.
