This chili has a hint of Tex-Mex to it. Ground beef is slow cooked in a spicy sauce made with tomatoes with green chiles and hot salsa. Serve with a dollop of sour cream to balance out the spicy flavor.

1 cup chopped onion
1 1/2 tablespoon crushed red pepper flakes
1 tablespoon cayenne pepper
1 tablespoon fresh ground black pepper
1 tablespoon chili powder, mild or spicy

Stir the diced tomatoes and salsa. Mix completely.

  1. HOTDANG! REVIEW:

My stars this chili is da bomb! It makes a lot so be prepared to be eating it for a couple of days or serve to lots of friends. The only thing I didn't add was the oregano because lo and behold I was out when I went to grab it from the spice rack.

  2. ChefWendy REVIEW:

Made this exactly as directed and we loved it. It is spicy - be warned!

    Awesome recipe!!! LOOOOOOVE spicy!

  4. Valerie REVIEW:

Finally, a "spicy" chili that's actually spicy! We absolutely loved this. It had a lot of heat and flavor. You can definitely tone down the spices if you prefer. The cook time in the crockpot was perfect but it can definitely cook longer without compromising the final result. Best of all, it's easy!

  5. Chrelaine REVIEW:

We LOVE this recipe. I have had to tweak the heat level a little bit because it is way too hot for our tastes as written. It is a great base recipe for a quick and easy chili, just change the spice proportions to your own preference. I usually buy a package of mild chili seasoning and one hot, instead of measuring all of the spices. I use mild salsa and one can of regular tomatoes with one can of tomatoes with chiles. We love it on a football watching day with onions, cheese and sour cream for garnish. Thanks for the recipe.
