This copycat spiced mayo will become one of your go-to condiments. Horseradish, ketchup, and cayenne turn ordinary mayo into a delightful dip for anything fried.
1/2 cup mayonnaise (lowfat or regular)
2 tablespoons horseradish sauce
2 teaspoons ketchup
1/4 teaspoon paprika
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon dried oregano
1 dash freshly ground black pepper
1 dash cayenne pepper
Whisk together the mayo, horseradish sauce, ketchup, paprika, salt, oregano, black pepper, and cayenne in a bowl. Use the sauce immediately or store in a covered container in the refrigerator for up to 1 week.
Let the sauce sit for an hour before serving to allow the flavors to meld.
Adjust the seasoning to taste, adding more salt or spices as desired.
For a creamier texture, add a tablespoon of sour cream or Greek yogurt.
Try adding different spices like garlic powder or onion powder.
Serve as a dip with onion rings, french fries, or vegetable sticks.
Use as a zesty spread on burgers, wraps, or grilled sandwiches.
Make a larger batch and store in individual small containers for convenience or sending along with school or work lunches.
Yes, you can use any type of mayonnaise, including vegan or egg-free versions. You can use salad dressing such as Miracle Whip, but it will be sweeter. You can use Greek yogurt or sour cream but it will be more tangy.
Wasabi or mustard can be used for a similar pungent flavor.
Yes, add more cayenne pepper or use a spicy ketchup or hot sauce in place of the ketchup.
Stored in a covered container, it can last up to 1 week.
Use low-fat or fat-free mayonnaise to reduce calories.
Yes, grated fresh horseradish can be used, but adjust the amount to taste as it can be stronger.
Freezing may affect the texture, so it's not recommended.
It's great with fried foods, as a spread for sandwiches, or as a dip for vegetables.
