The right sauce can turn an ordinary cake into an exquisite dessert in a flash. This sweet butter sauce is a versatile one, delicious over everything from angel food cake to cinnamon rolls. Easy to keep stocked in the freezer, too.

ingredients
1 cup sugar
3/4 cup half and half or evaporated milk
1/2 cup butter
1/2 teaspoon rum extract (if desired)
directions
In small sauce pan, combine all ingredients; heat just to boiling, stirring occasionally.
Serve warm.
Delicious over angel food cake.
