ingredients

Dough

1 package active dry yeast
2 1/4 cups bread flour
2 tablespoons brown sugar
1 tablespoon dry milk powder
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon salt
1 cup water

Cinnamon/Apple

1 apple, peeled and diced
3 tablespoons brown sugar
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 tablespoon flour
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg

directions

Bring all ingredients to room temp. Add the dough ingredients to the pan in the order recommended by the manufacturer. Select White Bread and press start.

Let the machine run all the way through the end of the final kneading. During the final knead, prepare a work area in which the dough will be rolled out. Combine and thoroughly blend the spiral filling ingredients.

After the machine stops kneading for the final time, remove the bread pan and turn it out quickly onto the well floured work area. Roll the dough out to form a long but narrow (about half as wide as the bread pan is tall) oblong of dough about 1/2" thick.

Spread the spiral filling ingredients over the top of the dough oblong. Roll up the dough jelly-roll fashion. Return the dough to the bread pan. Permit the machine to complete rise and bake cycles normally.

  1. Char REVIEW:

This bread recipe needs a fat; either butter or oil. I made as written the first time; it came out tough. Used 2T butter the next time, and it was good.

This makes a really fun bread. I agree with the other review though that this bread is best toasted (which is primarily what I made it for anyway)

My family and I didn't think this bread tasted that great alone, it needed more apple or something I think. But it tasted really good when we toasted it in the toaster and spread it with butter. My little brother thought it might also taste really good with apple butter (unfortunately, we didn't have any on hand. =:( I didn't know how to work our bread machine in the way that this recipe says to so I put it on "Dough cycle" then followed the directions. I then put it back in the pan and let it rise to the height that I wanted and selected "bake". It turned out just perfect. =:) I will be making this recipe again, it wasn't too hard and tasted pretty good!

  5. bkcooker REVIEW:

Great recipe! My daughter insisted on eating it for desert with whipped cream. One note, my bread machine doesn't allow me to take the pan out so I used the dough cycle then cooked it in the oven at 350, for 25 minutes. With all the apples the bread is very soft and doesn't hold shape well after you start cutting it- Wonderful! Thank You!
