Ah, the unassuming envelope of onion soup mix. It's more than just for onion soup (or dip). It adds tremendous flavor (and convenience) in all these recipes.

Flip the script on your breakfast routine with this banana cinnamon French toast. It's a sweet, cinnamon-infused twist on a morning classic.
1 large ripe banana, peeled
2 large eggs
1/2 cup milk
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
4 slices sturdy bread
1 1/2 tablespoon butter
1/2 cup maple syrup, heated
Combine the banana, eggs, milk, and cinnamon in a food processor and process until smooth. Transfer the batter to a 9x13-inch shallow baking dish.
Place the slices of bread in the batter in a single layer. Let the bread soak in the batter for 20 minutes, turning occasionally, until all the liquid has been absorbed.
Melt the butter in a large skillet over medium heat. When hot, add the soaked bread slices and cook for 3 minutes per side or until golden brown.
Serve the banana cinnamon French toast immediately with heated maple syrup, if desired.
Make sure the bread has fully absorbed the banana batter.
Cook on medium heat to prevent burning while allowing the inside to cook thoroughly.
Flip the French toast gently.
Serve warm for the best flavor and texture.
Experiment with different toppings.
If cooking in batches, keep the cooked French toast warm in an oven set at a low temperature.
Sturdy bread like brioche or challah works best as it holds up well to soaking without falling apart. Avoid very soft or thin bread.
The banana should be very ripe so it blends well into the batter. A firm banana won't allow the batter to be as well absorbed by the bread.
It's best to make the batter just before you soak the bread to prevent it from browning.
Yes, a blender can be used to combine the banana, eggs, milk, and cinnamon until smooth.
Use a non-stick skillet and make sure the butter is evenly melted over the surface before adding the bread.
Grated nutmeg or vanilla extract can be added for additional flavor.
The French toast is ready to flip when it's golden brown on the bottom and slightly firm to the touch.
Top with fresh fruit, nuts, whipped cream, or a sprinkle of powdered sugar for extra indulgence.
Store in the refrigerator for up to 2 days. Reheat in a skillet or toaster oven for best results.

Flavors are just right for the banana and cinnamon. I use a thick sliced bread - either something like Texas toast or french bread. regular bread should work fine too though.
