This iconic whiskey is a "Jack of all trades" when it comes to cooking. Toss it in some pasta, as a savory dipping sauce, and even bake it into something sweet.

Agua fresca de limon is just another way to say limeade, but you've gotta admit it's got a nice ring to it. Making some simple syrup ahead of time makes it way easier to serve up dozens of these refreshing beverages.

LIME DRINK
6 cups cold water
1/2 cup simple syrup
OR
0.33 cup granulated sugar
2 large dark green limes
SIMPLE SYRUP
2 cups water
1 cup granulated sugar
For Lime Drink: In a pitcher combine the water and syrup or sugar, stirring to make sure the sugar is well dissolved. Refrigerate until very cold.
Just before serving, grate the rind of the lime into the pitcher, being careful not to include any of the white part. Serve over ice cubes.
For Simple Syrup: Combine the water and sugar in a small saucepan. Heat gently, stirring constantly, until the sugar is completely dissolved.
Bring to a boil over medium heat and cook until reduced to 1 cup. Let cool to room temperature; store, refrigerated, in a tightly covered container.

Pumpkins aren't just for pies or Halloween decorations. These large, orange gourds - while naturally sweet - also work well in savory dishes. They pair well with poultry and pork (and especially bacon) and their creamy-when-cooked texture blends easily into soups.
A can of cream of mushroom soup can be a real dinner saver. It works great in casseroles and can turn into a sauce or gravy in a pinch.
