Moroccan Syrup Oranges

ingredients
6 oranges, peeled and pith removed
1/3 cup sugar
1 cup water
1 teaspoon cardamom pods
2 whole cloves
mint leaves
directions
Slice oranges into 3/8" slices. Arrange in a shallow dish.
Place sugar in a saucepan. Gradually blend in water. Bring to the boil, stirring. Reduce heat. Simmer, without stirring, until syrup begins to caramelize. Remove from heat.
Carefully blend in cardamom and cloves. Pour syrup over oranges. Stand for at least 2 hours before serving.
Refrigerate if preferred. Sprinkle with mint. Serve with vegan cream of choice.
