This iconic whiskey is a "Jack of all trades" when it comes to cooking. Toss it in some pasta, as a savory dipping sauce, and even bake it into something sweet.

Glazed strawberries cover layers of fluffy whipped topping and airy angel food cake. Let it chill for a few hours before serving for best flavor.

1 package (8 ounce size) cream cheese, softened
1 1/2 cup powdered sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 tub (8 ounce size) frozen whipped topping, thawed, plus more if desired
1 angel food cake
2 quarts fresh sliced strawberries, plus more if desired
1 package (16 ounce size) strawberry glaze
Combine the cream cheese and powdered sugar in a large mixing bowl. Beat on medium speed with an electric mixer until fluffy and the sugar is incorporated. Add the vanilla and mix for 1 minute.
Fold in the whipped topping, then set the mixture aside.
In another bowl, combine the strawberries and glaze. Mix gently so the strawberries are covered in the glaze.
Tear the angel food cake into bite-sized pieces. Place half of the cake pieces in a large, clear glass bowl. Spread half of the cream cheese mixture over the cake pieces. Spread half of the strawberries over it.
Layer the remaining cake pieces over the cream cheese. Spread the remaining cream cheese over the cake layer and then top with the remaining strawberry mixture.
If desired, spread another layer of whipped topping or whipped cream over the top layer and garnish with fresh strawberries.
Keep the dessert refrigerated. For best texture, cover and chill the dessert for 2-3 hours before serving.
Choose ripe and sweet strawberries for the best flavor in this dessert.
Allow the cream cheese mixture to come to room temperature before mixing with the powdered sugar and folding in the whipped topping.
For a lighter version, use low-fat cream cheese and whipped topping.
Experiment with different flavors of glaze, such as raspberry or peach, for a unique twist on the dessert.
Layer the dessert in individual serving cups for a different presentation.
Consider adding a splash of liqueur, such as Grand Marnier or Chambord, to the strawberry mixture for an extra layer of flavor.
You can use a different type of cake such as pound cake or sponge cake, but the light and airy texture of angel food cake pairs with the strawberries and cream well.
If you don't have strawberry glaze, you can make a simple syrup by heating equal parts of sugar and water until the sugar dissolves, then mixing it with the fresh strawberries for a similar effect.
It is best to chill this dessert for at least a few hours, or overnight if possible, to allow the flavors to meld together and for the dessert to set properly.
You can use other fruits like raspberries, blueberries, or blackberries for a different flavor.
The cake can be torn by hand, just use a light touch. You can also use a serrated knife and a gentle sawing motion to avoid compressing the delicate texture of the cake.
This dessert can be made a day ahead of time and actually has better flavor and texture if made slightly in advance. However, making it more than a day in advance can cause it to become soggy.
Cover the bowl with plastic wrap or transfer leftovers to an airtight container and store in the refrigerator for up to 2-3 days.
You can use freshly whipped cream in place of whipped topping for a fresher and less processed option, but the stability and texture may vary slightly.
Hand Mixer or Stand Mixer: For combining the softened cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract to create a smooth and creamy mixture.
Mixing Bowls: At least two are needed - one for mixing the cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla, and another for combining the strawberry glaze with the sliced berries.
Rubber Spatula: Handy for scraping down the sides of the mixing bowl to make sure all ingredients are well combined. A spatula is also needed for folding the thawed whipped topping into the cream cheese mixture.
Large Clear Glass Bowl: For assembling the dessert in layers. Make sure it's large enough to accommodate all the ingredients. You can also use individual clear parfait dishes.
Sharp Knife: For slicing the fresh strawberries to layer with the glaze and angel food cake.
Mini Chocolate Chips: Sprinkle some mini chocolate chips over the top for a contrast of flavors and textures. The hint of chocolate will add a touch of decadence to this already heavenly dessert.
Mint Leaves: Garnish with fresh mint leaves for a pop of color and a hint of freshness. The mint will cut through the sweetness of the dessert.
Lemon Zest: Grate some lemon zest over the top to add a bright citrusy note that will boost the flavors of the strawberries and cream.
Almond Slices: Sprinkle some toasted almond slices over the dessert for a crunchy and nutty addition. The toasty flavor of the almonds will add depth to the dish.
Wine Pairings
Prosecco: The bubbles and slight sweetness in Prosecco will enhance the light, airy quality of the angel food cake and complement the sweetness of the strawberries and glaze.
Moscato: A Moscato with its fruity and floral notes pairs well with the strawberry glaze, adding a touch of sweetness without overpowering the dessert.
Rose: A light and fruity rose with its crisp acidity can balance the sweetness of the dessert while adding a refreshing touch to each bite.
Other Alcohol Pairings
Raspberry Lambic: For a fun twist, try a raspberry lambic beer. The fruity, slightly tart flavors will match perfectly with the fresh sliced strawberries.
Baileys Irish Cream: For a little indulgence, sip on Baileys Irish Cream alongside this dessert.
Mimosa: The classic brunch cocktail made with champagne and orange juice is a fantastic pairing with this fruity dessert. The citrus notes in the mimosa will brighten up the strawberries and cream.
Non-Alcoholic Pairings
Fruit-Infused Water: Keep it light and refreshing with fruit-infused water. The subtle fruit flavors will complement the fresh strawberries without taking away from the sweetness of the dessert.
Iced Vanilla Latte: For a simple yet satisfying treat, try an iced vanilla latte. The coffee flavor will contrast nicely with the sweet strawberries and angel food cake.
Sparkling Lemonade: A sparkling lemonade will provide a zesty kick to the dessert, enhancing the overall fruity flavors.

I have a question> I don't like sponge cake or angle food cake. what can I use instead of those types of cakes? thank you
You can use a denser cake but the texture of the entire dessert will change. It's meant to be a very light and airy dessert.
