ingredients
2 cups sifted flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
3 squares (1 ounce size) baking chocolate
1 1/2 cup sugar
1 1/2 cup milk
1/2 cup butter
2 eggs, beaten
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
directions
Sift flour, soda and salt together.
Melt chocolate in a double boiler. Add 1/2 cup sugar and 1/2 cup milk. Cook until thickened, stirring constantly. Cool.
Cream butter with remaining 1 cup sugar until fluffy. Add eggs and beat. Stir in chocolate mixture and vanilla. Add flour alternately with remaining 1 cup milk.
Pour into buttered paper-lined (9 1/2-inch) tube pan and bake in a moderate oven (350 degrees F) for 1 hour 10 minutes.
Serve with ice cream sauce.
