The name, vodka, comes from the Russian phrase zhiznennaia voda, or "water of life". It can be made from everything from potatoes to beets. It's considered to be fairly flavorless which makes it a great liquor for mixed drinks.

Whip up some Christmas peanut butter balls with creamy peanut butter and chocolate chips in a few simple steps. These treats mix, chill, and are ready to be enjoyed, making holiday snacking a breeze.
2 cups creamy peanut butter
3 cups powdered sugar
1 cup butter, softened
1 package (12 ounce size) chocolate chips
1/4 block paraffin wax
Combine the peanut butter, powdered sugar, and softened butter in a bowl. Cover the bowl and place in the refrigerator for 2-4 hours for the mixture to firm up.
Combine the chocolate chips and paraffin in the top of a double boiler over simmering, not boiling, water. Stir until the chips are melted.
Scoop the peanut butter mixture into 1-inch size balls. Using a candy dipping fork (or regular fork or skewer), dip the peanut butter balls into the melted chocolate, letting excess drip off. Place the balls on waxed paper to cool.
When all the balls are done, let them cool completely then store in an airtight container.
If you can't find the old school paraffin wax, use almond bark or other dipping chocolate instead of the chocolate chips.
Use a cookie scoop for evenly sized peanut butter balls.
Chill the chocolate-coated balls in the fridge to help the chocolate harden faster.
If the chocolate stiffens while dipping, gently reheat it to restore its liquidity.
Make these a day ahead of your event; they taste even better after the flavors meld overnight.
Try different nut butters for variations.
Make sure the peanut butter mixture is cold before scooping to avoid sticking.
Add crushed peppermint or candy cane to the chocolate for a festive twist.
Paraffin wax helps to create a glossy finish and prevent the chocolate from hardening too quickly. It also gives the chocolate a smoother texture for dipping.
You can use almond bark, candy melts, or other melting chocolates instead of paraffin wax. These alternatives eliminate the need for wax while providing a similar consistency when set.
You can use crunchy peanut butter for a different texture, or almond butter or sunflower seed butter for a nut-free alternative.
The mixture is ready when it is cold to the touch and holds its shape when scooped. If it's too soft, leave it in the refrigerator for an additional hour.
Store the peanut butter balls in an airtight container in a cool place. They can be kept at room temperature for several days or in the refrigerator for up to two weeks.
Yes, they freeze well. Place them in a single layer on a baking sheet to freeze individually before transferring to an airtight container. They can be frozen for up to three months.
Using a double boiler is ideal, but a microwave works as well. If using a microwave, heat in short bursts (15-30 seconds), stirring in between to prevent scorching.
Yes, white chocolate can be used for a different flavor and look. Make sure it is properly tempered or use a melting product designed for dipping.
You can use a regular fork, skewer, or toothpick to dip the peanut butter balls. Just be careful not to poke through the ball and make sure it's well-coated.
Try adding a pinch of salt, vanilla extract, or even some crushed graham crackers for added flavor and texture.
You could drizzle melted chocolate or colored candy melts over the cooled balls for decoration or roll them in crushed nuts or sprinkles.
The chocolate coating typically sets within 30 minutes to an hour at room temperature. You can speed up the process by placing them in the refrigerator.
Mixing Bowl: To combine the peanut butter, powdered sugar, and softened butter.
Double Boiler: For melting the chocolate chips and paraffin wax. If a double boiler is not available, a heat-safe bowl can be placed over a pot of simmering water or you can use the microwave, heating in very short intervals.
Spatula: For stirring the peanut butter mixture and for mixing the chocolate chips and paraffin in the double boiler.
Measuring Cups: For measuring the peanut butter, powdered sugar, and butter.
Candy Dipping Fork or Regular Fork: For dipping the peanut butter balls into the melted chocolate.
Waxed Paper: To place the dipped peanut butter balls on while they cool.
Airtight Container: For storing the finished peanut butter balls to keep them fresh once they have cooled completely.
Knife (optional): For cutting the paraffin wax into smaller pieces if necessary before melting it with the chocolate chips.
Ice Cream: Crumble the peanut butter balls on top of vanilla or chocolate ice cream. The peanut butter's flavor and the chocolate coating add texture and taste that jazzes up a simple scoop of ice cream.
Fruit: Serve alongside apple or banana slices. The freshness and acidity of the fruit cut through the richness of the peanut butter balls.
Dipped Pretzels: Offer chocolate-dipped pretzels as a side. The salty crunch of the pretzels complements the sweetness of the peanut butter balls and adds an additional layer of flavor.
Nuts: Serve with mixed nuts or roasted peanuts. The crunchy texture and savory notes of the nuts offer a contrast to the sweetness of the peanut butter balls.
Cheesecake: For a dessert platter, include mini cheesecake bites. The creamy tang of the cheesecake pairs well with the sweetness of the peanut butter balls.
Charcuterie Board: Incorporate the peanut butter balls on a holiday charcuterie board. Their sweet and rich nature adds a unique element among meats, cheeses, and crackers, attracting those who enjoy a mix of flavors.
Wine Pairings
Chardonnay: A creamy, buttery Chardonnay complements the richness of the peanut butter and chocolate. Look for one that's oak-aged.
Merlot: This fruity red can be a good companion to sweet treats. Choose a Merlot with hints of plum and cherry that adds a nice contrast to the salty, nutty peanut butter.
Ruby Port: Sweet and rich, Ruby Port will bring out the flavors of both the chocolate and peanut butter while offering its own berry sweetness.
Other Alcohol Pairings
Peanut Butter Whiskey: This fun option complements the peanut butter balls perfectly. The sweet, nutty flavors of the whiskey will echo the taste of the treats and make the pairing festive.
Milk Stout: A creamy milk stout, with its hints of chocolate and coffee, pairs beautifully with the rich peanut butter and chocolate.
Baileys Irish Cream: This luscious and creamy liquor, with hints of chocolate and vanilla, will nicely match the sweet peanut butter balls.
Non-Alcoholic Pairings
Caramel Apple Cider: This drink mixes the warmth of spiced cider with sweet caramel flavors, bringing a festive twist that complements the sweetness of your treat.
Hot Chocolate: Serve these peanut butter balls alongside a warm cup of hot chocolate. The sweetness of the chocolate drink enhances the flavors of the chocolate coating on the balls while the creaminess of the hot chocolate complements the peanut butter filling.
Coffee: Pair with a rich cup of coffee to balance out the sweetness. The bitterness of the coffee provides a nice contrast to the creamy, sugary peanut butter balls.
Milk: A classic pairing with peanut butter treats. The creamy, cold milk balances the richness and sweetness of the peanut butter filling.

Awesome! Yes, that is my picture attached to the recipe. Anytime I mention that I'm making peanut butter balls, the girls at work go bonkers, as do the teachers at my kid's daycare! Great for Christmas, or any occasion. Delicious!
