A can of cream of mushroom soup can be a real dinner saver. It works great in casseroles and can turn into a sauce or gravy in a pinch.

Also known as "Angels on Horseback", this is a popular (and easy) party appetizer. You can use freshly shelled or jarred oysters.

1 pint oysters
10 slices bacon, cut in half
Preheat oven to broil.
Rinse and drain the oysters and lightly pat dry.
Wrap each individual oyster with a half strip of raw bacon. Secure with a toothpick.
Place the oysters on a broiling pan and cook 5-6 inches from the heat until the bacon begins to brown. Turn the oysters over and broil until the bacon is browned and crisp on the edges (about 10 minutes, but watch the oysters carefully).
Remove from the oven. Place the oysters on paper toweling to drain for a couple of minutes. Serve hot.
Optional: You can sprinkle the oysters with some lemon juice and let sit prior to wrapping with the bacon if you want to reduce the fishy flavor. You can also season the oysters as desired before wrapping (hot sauce and black pepper are both good. You won't need salt because of the bacon).

Not to be confused with evaporated milk, sweetened condensed milk is very sweet (and very sticky) and used primarily in desserts.
This iconic whiskey is a "Jack of all trades" when it comes to cooking. Toss it in some pasta, as a savory dipping sauce, and even bake it into something sweet.
