ingredients
4 cups rolled oats**
1 cup wheat germ
1 cup chopped walnuts or other nuts
1 cup sunflower seeds
1/2 cup wheat bran
1 cup roasted soybeans
1/2 cup shredded unsweetened coconut
1/4 cup canola oil
1/2 cup honey
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
directions
Heat last 3 ingredients to boiling in a small saucepan. Mix the rest and pour liquids over dry ingredients and stir thoroughly. Toast on two greased cookie sheets at 325 degrees F for 15 minutes or until golden. Remove from oven.
Let cool for 5 minutes and remove from cookie sheets and store in an airtight container. Add fresh or dried fruit when serving, if desired.
* Replace 1 cup or more of oats with kamut flakes, rye flakes, barley flakes or rolled wheat flakes.
